Maker joined James Okello and Francis Azolibe to form a solid frontcourt for the champions before leaving the club to return to South Sudan.

City Oilers needed Moses Mer Maker to get over the line and win their eight-straight National Basketball League championship last season.

The South Sudanese forward joined the team for the second round and went on to become a vital piece of the title-winning side.

Maker joined James Okello and Francis Azolibe to form a solid frontcourt for the champions before leaving the club to return to South Sudan.

But with the second round of the Ugandan season already underway and the Oilers seemingly short on big me, Maker is set for a return to Ugandan hoops.

With Ivan Lumanyika still out injured, James Okello and Titus Lual are the only out-and-out bigs on the Oilers' roster.

The forward has been registered to play for the Oilers in the remaining stretch of the campaign and is expected to join the team soon.

He is currently part of the South Sudan team playing in the FIBA Afro-CAN Qualifiers in Dar es Salam, Tanzania and will fly to Uganda thereafter.

"We only have two bigs in the team, so Maker brings competition," City Oilers head coach Mandy Juruni told Pulse Sports.

"He gives us a presence in the paint, and he did well for us last season," he added.

"His contribution last season helped the team."

The champions are on a 12-0 run and started the second round with a commanding 72-52 pummeling of Namuwongo Blazers last Friday.

Top of the 12-team log and still unbeaten, the Oilers are overwhelming favourites to win the championship and make it nine straight titles.
