The Oilers were inspired by an impressive display from James Okello, who managed a double double of 21 points and 11 rebounds. He added five (5) assists to his name.

Reigning champions City Oilers wrapped the first round of the 2024 National Basketball League season with an emphatic 80-56 victory over UCU Canons  on Monday at the YMCA Court, Wandegeya.

After 11 first round matches, the nine-time NBL winners have won a massive ten games, losing just one (to Nam Blazers) in the process.

On the evening at YMCA, UCU Canons put up proper competition in the opening to quarters, before terribly falling in the  second half.

The Oilers were inspired by an impressive display from James Okello, who managed a double double of 21 points and 11 rebounds. He added five (5) assists to his name.

Three other stars including Tonny Drilleba (14), Titus Lual (11) and Rogers Dauna (10) all put up double digits for the evening's victors.

On the other hand, for the Canons, Joel Kayiira shot 11 points and 10 rebounds, with Peter Sifuma supplementing with 11 points in a losing effort.
