2023 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket
Wakama, who is an indigene of the Rivers State of Nigeria, takes charge of Nigeria's national women's team, known as D'Tigress ahead of a major tournament.
D'Tigress are the defending champions and have a new coach ahead of the 2023 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament.
Nigeria's DTigress, who are the reigning champions, are in Group D, and will face Egypt, and DR. Congo.
From July 28 to August 6 at Kigali Arena, the tournament's 26th edition will be played.
The participation of D'Tigress at the 2023 Afrobasket Women's tournament comes after a ban on basketball by former President Muhammadu Buhari prevented the team from competing at the 2022 FIBA Women's World Cup.
