Uganda will have another opportunity to stake their claim when the 3X3 Basketball Nations League tournament begins in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
City Oilers point guard Fayed Bbaale, one of six players on the men's team, is optimistic the squad is well-improved and is ready to challenge at the competition.
"I feel fit and prepared," Bbale told Pulse Sports before the team departed, he added.
"Same for all of us as we have been playing for our respective clubs during the season, we have played it before, and we're better now at things like decision-making."
"We just have to be faster and shoot better; that will help us march the other teams."
Uganda is up against hosts DR. Congo, Benin and Egypt in men's and women's categories.
Albert Aciko will coach Uganda's female side, while Jonathan Egau will coach the men's.
"We have selected the best players for the competition; the group is positive we shall deliver," Egau said.
According to the FIBA website, the games are listed to tip off on the 8th of July in Kinshasa, with Uganda having the same schedule for men and women.
Jonathan Egau's charges take on Benin first before taking on the hosts DR. Congo and wrapping it up against Egypt.
The ladies will follow the same schedule. Both Uganda's men and women finished second in the previous edition.
