City Oil and Silverbacks point guard Jimmy Enabu knows precisely how it feels to get a few months of deserved rest, especially after a grueling season that included national team activity.
Enabu, who has been part of the City Oilers setup since 2013, played a pivotal role last season as his club won a record eighth straight championship and qualified for their maiden Basketball Africa League tournament.
Enabu, sat out games five and six of the 2022 National Basketball League finals due to injury, but he is back and raring to go
"Yes, I am available; I fully recovered from my hamstring partial tear injury, so I should be good to go. It's great for the team to play at the BAL tournament, but we must prepare for it," he told Pulse Sports.
"For me, the competition and the teams are familiar because we have played some of the teams before, so we understand what is required to play at this level."
As much as the players look fit and healthy in training Enabu says they must ensure they all pick up simultaneously.
"Our preparations for the games have already started, and the group is in good shape, but we must focus on picking the right time."
"It's one thing to be fit and healthy but not really at your best, so that's one thing we are working on."
Oilers will debut at the Basketball For Africa League, the continent's premier basketball club competition.
The Ugandan side is pooled in the Nile Conference alongside Beira - CFV (Mozambique), Petro De Luanda (Angola), Al Ahly (Egypt), Cape Town Tigers (South Africa and SLAU (Guinea).
