AFROBASKET 'Flirsh' rallies fans ahead of qualifiers

The Gazelles who will face Egypt, Rwanda, Kenya and South Sudan to book a slot in Afro-basket tournament are bidding to make a third appearance at the continental showpiece set to take place in Kigali Rwanda.

Flavia Oketcho the captain of the national women's basketball team, the Gazelles has called upon fans to reciprocate the NBL finals atmosphere during the FIBA Zone V Afro basket Women qualifiers.

Speaking after the team's last non residential training at Lugogo on Tuesday afternoon, 'Flirsh' like she is fondly known called out the fans to come in large numbers.

"Last year's NBL finals had a great turn up, people do love basketball so now is the time for them to rally behind the Gazelles and women’s basketball because this is an international tournament," Oketcho said before adding. 

"The fans are very important but we also need to know the overall purpose of this tournament (qualifying for Afro-basket) because it will help rally more fans to come in large numbers."
