Fuba are smiling all the way to the bank after nailing a 360m sponsorship from Stanbic Bank.

The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations has sealed a sponsorship partnership with leading financial institution Stanbic Bank Uganda.

The three-year partnership announced on Thursday, March 16th, at Stanbic business Incubator Limited offices in Kololo, Kampala, will see Stanbic give Fuba 120m per annum for the next three years.

The deal is worth 360m.

Speaking at the event, Kenneth Agutamba, the head of communications at Stanbic Bank Uganda, revealed it was an excellent step for the bank.

"We're happy to announce that we have agreed to support the National Basketball League for the next three years," Agutamba told the press.

"We are a brand that loves sports in general because we are already supporting rugby (Stanbic Black Pirates), the Uganda Cup, and today we are extending the support to basketball."

"It's big for us, and it is a start to what we hope will be a very long partnership with FUBA," he added.

Fuba president Nasser Sserunjoji welcomed the development saying the partnership will go a long way in growing the game.

"As FUBA, we're honoured and excited to partner with Stanbic through their Flexipay brand," he noted before explaining how the system will work.

"Fans will be able to pay for tickets without necessarily using cash which is a convenient way for the fans, so we are happy and looking forward to a perfect partnership with Stanbic bank."

The announcement marks the first big activity under Sserunjogi's new four-year term of office. Sserunjogi was re-elected to the FUBA top seat on Saturday.

Next on the schedule will be the tip-off of the National Basketball League, slated for Sunday at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

The league was meant to start on Friday, March 17th but was postponed due to the unavailability of Lugogo.
