The KIU Titans face the Namuwongo Blazers in the National Basketball League on Friday in a tie that will have the basketball nation glued to this encounter.
The Titans head into this fixture on a five-match winning run and will be confident against the Blazers.
Their last match ended in a convincing 68-53 against Denmark Power last Friday to consolidate second place.
Despite the off-season outgoings, the Blazers have re-grouped and had a decent start to the season as they find themselves fourth in the table with a 5-2 record after seven games played this season.
Star player Saidi Amisi switched from the Blazers to the Titans in the off-season after nearly winning the title last year with his former club.
He will try and go one better this year. He will be playing his side for the first time since he joined the Titans and says that he expects a close game but is always happy to see his old teammates.
“It is all good between us even off the court, we had a fantastic experience together, and it will be good to see them tomorrow, and we expect a difficult game as well,” he told Pulse Sports.
He is averaging 16 points per game this season and has established himself as the leading man for the Titans.
Asked if the team morale is growing because of their winning run, Amisi said that it has been improving daily and is confident of getting the win.
“We have been doing well in these last games, and we believe we can win come game time. Getting a win will be key,” he added.
Peter Cheng has been nothing short of inspirational for his side this season as he currently leads the league in scoring with 20 PPG whilst averaging a double-double with 10 per game.
Offensively, both teams are similar in how they want to go about their business, as both sides have scored over 200 points in the paint.
The Namuwongo Blazers have scored 38.8%, while the Titans have scored 30% from the field, further highlighting their similarities in the offence.
In recent head-to-head meetings, the Namuwongo Blazers have won two of their last three meetings, with the Blazers winning their previous encounter, 75-61.
