Uganda Gazelles forward Jane Asinde has re-joined the team camp to continue with preparation for the upcoming FIBA Women’s Afrobasket.
Asinde has been away for a few days to take part in the Global Jam.
The Global Jam is a 5-on-5 Under-23 basketball tournament featuring women’s and men’s teams from around the world.

BASKETBALL Assistant coach Ali Mavita joins Uganda Gazelles camp
Mavita was among 28 basketball coaches from 17 African countries who were selected to participate in the NBA 2K24 Summer League that took place in Las Vegas, Nevada, from July 7-17, 2023.
Asinde was on the team selected by the Basketball Africa League to represent the continent and came up against Canada U23, the University of Louisville (US) and Puerto Rico U23 teams.
She returns to the Gazelles camp with less than ten days left until the Afrobasket.
Having arrived from Canada on Wednesday, it remains to be seen whether Asinde will take part in the team’s planned scrimmage against a select side on Thursday night.

BASKETBALL All focus on Uganda Gazelles as FUBA postpone league action
Games scheduled before July 27th will go on, starting with Wednesday’s action at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium.
Head coach Alberto Antuna and his coaching staff will have the opportunity to test their progress against a team selected from the National Basketball League.
The team is still without Claire Lamunu, who is expected to arrive on Saturday and train for two days before the trip to Kigali, Rwanda.
Uganda will be making a third appearance at Afrobasket and is in Group C alongside record champions Senegal and Mali.
