The National Basketball League resumes on Friday with a highly anticipated matchup between the JT Lady Jaguars and the JKL Lady Dolphins at Lugogo.
The two are currently tied at the top of the table, and the clash promises an exciting display of talent, strategy, and determination.
In their debut season in the top flight, JT Lady Jaguars have quickly established themselves as the team to beat.
Currently sitting in first place, they have their sights set on a deep postseason run.
However, head coach Sudi Ulanga remains focused on building a solid team culture, taking each game as it comes.
"We are not in a hurry as we are building something special here, and I wouldn't mind if we win the league or not this season as long as we are creating the right culture," said Ulanga.
Ulanga emphasizes the importance of doing the right things and maintaining discipline, highlighting the eight-time defending champions as a successful example.
"Teams like City Oilers keep on winning because they do the right things and are very disciplined coupled with consistency which we are trying to emulate and hopefully reach that point.
"This team is trying to achieve a winning culture over immediate results, and we are going to try and show patience and look at the long term", he told Pulse Sports.
One notable strength of the Lady Jaguars is their ability to perform well even when a key player is absent.
"There is a reason why we don't have a problem when one of our players is missing from the team; we have a system that we have been trying to establish for a long time now," Ulanga added.
He also downplays the need for his team to prove themselves and instead emphasizes the importance of playing the right way.
"We don't have any point to prove," Ulanga stated when asked about their upcoming match against the JKL Lady Dolphins, last season's finalists."
"They are the finalists from last season; we just came up and tried to compete, we have to stick to playing well, doing the basics right, and the results will take care of themselves", Ulanga told this website.
The Lady Jaguars will receive a boost in the second round with the introduction of Brenda Namubiru, who could not make the team's final list in the first round.
"Brenda (Namubiru) has been training with us for most of the first round, and when she came in, she wasn't ready," Ulanga said. "I am looking forward to starting giving her minutes."
The JT Lady Jaguars embrace the challenges of being the hunted team in their debut season.
With a focus on building a winning culture, maintaining discipline, and competing against formidable opponents, they strive to make their mark in the National Basketball League.
