The Panthers defeated Kampala Rockets 72-65 in a game that was decided in the final stages.
Rockets were the first to get out of the blocks and got going through Emmanuel Okumu and John Dombo to lead 20-15 after the opening quarter.

BASKETBALL NBL: Lady Canons blowout A1 Challenge
The UCU Lady Canons returned to league action as they blew out A1 Challenge 75-49 in the National Basketball League at the YMCA grounds on Wednesday.
Brian Wathum’s Panthers then relied on Daniel Gaaki and Martin Buluma Ouma’s offence to stage a comeback and edge the second frame 23-14.
The Kasasiro Boys took a four-point advantage (38-34) into the halftime break and, by edging the third frame 23-14, established a comfortable 13-point lead (61-48) into the last ten minutes of the game.
It was, however, in the final quarter that Kur Garang got hot from downtown to ensure a nervy ending to the game.
With 50 seconds left, the South Sudanese connected from range to make it a six-point game (71-65), but the Panthers held on for victory.
Gaaki scored a team-high 14 points, while Emmanuel Odongkara and Gaius Mahamba added 12 apiece.
