Team Kenya won 65-42 over South Sudan in their friendly match held at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday night.
Kenya Morans coach Collins Gaya has revealed that there is a lot of work to be done ahead of the FIBA Africa AfroCan tournament in Luanda, Angola, which will take place from July 8 to 16.
Gaya revealed that the team needs to work on their defense and offense mechanisms and also address their shooting skills. He observed the shortcomings during their match against South Sudan at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday night.

Despite the national team winning 69-42, Gaya insisted that they are still not where they want to be and they shall be going back to the drawing board to work on the weaknesses.
“South Sudan is very competitive…they are tall, young, and very energetic. The game gave us a run for our money and obviously, we have a lot to do going forward.
We have a challenge in our defense, rebounding the ball and our offense is still not perfect. We even struggled shooting the ball and that’s an area we also need to work on. We are not where we want to be yet,” he said.
Team Kenya started off the game on a high before faltering a few minutes to the end of the first quarter where they lost 11-15.
They then returned for the second and third quarters where they put up a good fight to secure wins of 18-04 and 19-17 respectively. The last quarter saw them bag a 17-06 win.

Team Kenya return to the championship after a third-place finish during the first edition in 2019.
The tactician also lauded the fans for turning up in large numbers and credited them for propelling Team Kenya to victory.
“Without the crowd and the media, we couldn’t have afforded a win. They cheered us on and I want to thank them,” he said.
