"Thrilled to welcome our new assistant coach, Komakech Ben. Ready to embark on this journey together," City Oilers revealed on their social media handles.

Juruni signed for Rwanda's Kepler men's basketball team just moments after guiding the Oilers to the Basketball Africa League.

It should be noted that the gaffer left a City Oilers legend, having guided them to nine successive NBL championships.

Meanwhile, Juruni's former deputy, Andrew Tendo, has been named his direct replacement.

"It is with great pleasure and anticipation that we gather here today to welcome our new coach, Andrew Tendo, to the helm of our team," the club said.

"As we bid farewell to the legacy left by Coach Mandy Juruni, we embark on a new chapter filled with excitement and possibilities."

The Oilers are expected to push their domestic dominance going forward in the 2024 NBL season, slated to tip off on January 26.
