Micomyiza made her name playing for the Lady Canons between 2015 and 2018, a spell in which she helped the side to three National Basketball League titles.
Former UCU Lady Canons star Rosine Micomyiza is part of the Rwanda women’s national basketball team in Kampala for the FIBA Zone V Afrobasket Qualifiers.
The point guard was named on the final squad of 12 by head coach Dr. Cheikh Sarr.
Micomyiza made her name playing for the Lady Canons between 2015 and 2018, a spell in which she helped the side to three National Basketball League titles.
After her graduation, she returned to Rwanda and featured for The Hoops. She has since joined REG and continues to be a dominant figure in Rwandan basketball.
Rwanda have already qualified for the Afrobasket championship slated for July 28 to August 6th in Kigali but will use the qualifiers to test their preparedness ahead of the continental showpiece.
The team has been in residential training since February 1st and jetted into Uganda on Sunday.
The qualifiers will be held at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium, Kampala from February 14th to February 19th.
In addition to Rwanda, Egypt, Kenya, South Sudan, and hosts Uganda will compete in the event.
Having previously taken part in the Afrobasket in 2009 and 2011, Rwanda is preparing for her third appearance.
In Kampala, only one ticket will be available for Kenya, Egypt, South Sudan and hosts Uganda to compete for.
