Guddi will add hustle play and rebounding prowess to the Blazers team coming off the bench.

After close to a decade playing at Power, Nasser Guddi will switch to the red and white of Namuwongo Blazers this coming season.

Kikiri, as he is fondly referred to in basketball circles, was confirmed as a new signing in Namuwongo on Friday morning.

The club made the announcement of their social media platforms.

A short announcement on the team’s official Twitter handle read: “Ladies and Gentlemen, Guddi Nasser aka Kikiri.”

Guddi will join Geoffrey Soro, Dickson Asiku, Michael Makiadi and Paul Odongo as former Power players now plying their trade with last year’s losing finalists.

The Blazers unveiled nine players last month but revealed there would be more signings before the start of the season.

Peter Cheng was the first addition to the nine, and Guddi’s signing makes it 11 players for Stephen Nyeko’s charges.

Guddi will add hustle play and rebounding prowess to the Blazers team coming off the bench.

At Power, the small forward struggled to get the team’s trust throughout his stay and largely remained on the fringes.

After losing most of the key players from last season, including Saidi Amisi, Ariel Okall, David Deng, Keneddy Wachira and Peter Obleng, the Blazers will be looking to build a new core that can challenge eight-time champions City Oilers in the title race.

Landry Ndikumana is the marquee signing for the club and will be looking to work with players like the returning Cyrus Kiviiri, Soro and Odongo to challenge the Oilers.

The Burundian is, however, rumoured to have developed cold feet towards the move.

Having lost the championship by two points in last year’s Game Seven, it remains to be seen whether the new signings can scale the heights of last season or even better them to land the championship.

The National Basketball League season will tip off Sunday with five fixtures on the schedule.

The Blazers will open their campaign against JKL Dolphins on March 25th.
