Nam Blazers were the subject of discussion in town for most of the post and regular basketball league season.

The Namuwongo side managed to push the finals series to game seven, but ultimately lost 4-3 to the City Oilers.

Since then, a lot has happened. They have lost key players in Ariel Okall, Saidi Amisi, David Deng, Keneddy Wachira, Peter Obleng, and Collins Kasujja. Their chief executive officer Hajji Farouk Zinda left as well.

However, as the new season nears tip-off, the Blazers seem to have cleaned their house and are ready to roll according to their head coach Steven Nyeko Escodata.

"We have prepared well for the upcoming season,” a confident Escodata said.

“But before then, we wanted to gather all our fans and appreciate them for supporting us last season in an event dubbed 'Join the Blazers' on Saturday 25th February.”

The one-day event will also see the Blazers unveil four new player signings and sponsors as Nyeko adds.

"We have signed four new players who will be unveiled on that day. We have a new sponsor on board and want our dear fans to know, we want as many interactions as possible."

The 'Join the Blazers' event will be held at Abja Parks, a private sports complex in Naalya.

The new National Basketball League season is expected to tip off on 10th March 2023. Rezlife Saints and Kampala Rockets are the promoted teams in the Men's division.

The JT Lady Jaguars who stormed the top flight unbeaten with prominent faces like Zaina Lokwameri, Maureen Amoding and Muhayimuna Namuwaya are expected to stir up the competition with the status quo in the Women's league along with new entrants Kampala University.
