The 2023 Men's National Basketball League is fast approaching the conclusion of the first round, due to conclude at the end of the month. Four games were played across the division in the past week, and here is the team of the week.
Guard: Martin Ouma- KCCA Panthers
Ouma has been an essential asset for the KCCA Panthers, and Saturday was no different as he balled out in their 70-48 blowout against the Rezlife Saints.
He led his team in scoring with 23 points tallying six rebounds and two assists in 30 minutes of action.
Ouma has averaged 13 points, six rebounds, and two assists in 30 minutes of action this season and will hope to continue helping his she to back-to-back wins when they face next.
Guard: Kevin Kasobya- UCU Canons
Kasobya had the best game of his season as the UCU Canons came down from as many as 20 points to steal a 69-68 win against the KIU Titans on Friday night.
Coming off the bench, he tallied 14 points, three rebounds, and two assists while getting some crucial baskets down the stretch, providing a much-needed offensive threat off the bench as Vincent Mubiru and Jerry Kayanga combined for only nine points in both guard positions.
Forward: Moses Mugisha- Our Savior
The league leader in rebounds with 12 per game was back on Saturday as Our Savior secured a 63- 51 win over the Kampala Rockets.
He scored 10 points, six rebounds, and two assists in his side's win, which took their season record to 3-3 and kept the bottom but knowing they have only played six games this season.
Center: Peter Sifuma- UCU Canons
A player, the Canons, had to rely on in their victory against the Titans on Friday.
He took advantage of the absence of Saidi Amisi as he cleaned up the boards on both ends of the floor in their victory.
He scored 17 points and gathered 20 rebounds in 37 minutes on the night, resting for less than two minutes the whole game proving to be the team's iron man on the night.
Forward: Joseph Chuma- KIU Titans
Despite the defeat, the KIU Titans played a role in their classic against the Canons and, at one point, had a lead that had ballooned to as much as 20.
Chuma played a significant role in his side starting like a house on fire as he scored 10 points and 14 rebounds in 32 minutes of action and was joint second in the plus-minus category for his team, showing his influence in the game before it was lost at the death.
