Timberwolves force Game 7 against Nuggets
The Minnesota Timberwolves destroyed the Denver Nuggets because they needed a win to salvage their season.
The Timberwolves defeated the Nuggets 115-70 on Thursday, forcing a Game 7 in their Western Conference semifinal series. They did so by riding a 20-0 run in the first quarter.
With 27 points from Anthony Edwards and 21 from Jaden McDaniels on 8 of 10 shooting, Minnesota defeated the Utah Jazz in the second-largest playoff game in NBA history despite being in danger of elimination.
The Wolves made Game 6 laughable by putting on a strong defensive front and controlling the boards.
With big men Rudy Gobert (14), Karl-Anthony Towns (13), and Naz Reid (11) combining for 38 rebounds, Minnesota held a 62-43 advantage on the glass and forced Denver to just 7-of-36 shooting from 3-point range (19.4%).
The reigning champs' NBA MVP Nikola Jokic finished with 22 points and nine rebounds, while Jamal Murray had a terrible shooting night, making only 4 of his 18 shots and scoring just 10 points.
