The Namuwongo Blazers made it three straight wins in the National Basketball League on Sunday at the KIU Court after defeating the UPDF Tomahawks, 62-49.
The Tomahawks came into this fixture as underdogs but began the first quarter well, taking a 16-13 lead, and all signs of an upset looked probable.
Not to be outdone, the Blazers put their foot on the gas as they won the next three quarters, cementing the victory with a 17-8 fourth quarter, further highlighting their opponent's fourth-quarter struggles.
Geoffrey Soro was the latest Blazers player to take the spotlight, posting a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds in 35 minutes of action.
He was joined by Paul Odong(14) and Chris Omanye (14), who also scored double digits to continue the Blazers' recent good run.
The victory means that the Blazers overtook the UCU Canons to second place on the table after they momentarily held it for a few hours.
The UPDF Tomahawks are now winless in four of their last five games and in sixth place.
They hope to stop their abysmal run of form when they play the Kampala Rockets next.
The Blazers, who are on a high, face the struggling JKL Dolphins in their next fixture, looking to make it four straight wins.
