NBL: City Oilers make it five victories on the bounce with another over KIU Titans

A brilliant Ivan Muhwezi display inspired the Oilers, as he managed 16 points and nine (09) rebounds, while James Okello added 11 points.

National Basketball League defending champions City Oilers were at their routine selves after a 72-63 victory over KIU Titans at the MTN Indoor Arena, Lugogo, on Friday.

The win made it five in succession for the nine-time champions, who are in search of a tenth consecutive championship.

City Oilers got into early groove and opened a 14-point lead after the first quarter with a 25-11 lead.

With the Titans fighting back late, they cut a 21-point difference (46-21) at halftime to 16 points in the third quarter (62-46) and nine points at full-time.

On the other hand, Edgar Munaba put up 14 points and secured 12 rebounds in a losing effort for the Titans, while Tembo Pierre Kasereka had 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

This defeat leaves the Titans with a 2-2 record for the season so far.

Meanwhile, in the Women's category, KCCA Leopards managed a dominant 60-44 win over KIU Rangers, while UCU Lady Canons edged JT Lady Jaguars 46-42.
