Rezlife Saints and Ndejje Angels meet in a crucial encounter in the National Basketball League on Wednesday as both sides seek a long-overdue win.
The newly promoted Saints have been winless in all their three games, losing against Power basketball club( 83-81), KIU Titans(74-54) and City Oilers(88-55) in what were challenging games against three of the best sides the division has to offer.
The Ndejje Angels started the season with two wins against KCCA Panthers( 71-69) and the UCU Canons (64-55), with their terrific defence being the protagonist for those wins but have since lost twice.
Defeats against Power Basketball Club (68-59) and KIU Titans (89-72) have derailed their momentum after a fantastic start to the season, with their transition defence becoming a problem in those encounters.
They have conceded 54 points off turnovers in the last two games, and the RezLife Saints will be looking to capitalise on that come game time.
The Saints will be looking towards Benjamin Kawumi and Thok Timothy to provide that offensive punch needed to get their first win, as they are averaging 14 points per game.
Head Coach Daniel Juuko believes his side has what it takes to get their maiden win in the top flight. “We have been gradually improving each game, and if we are to play our game to the maximum, then we have a pretty good chance of winning the game,” Juuko told Pulse Sports.
Jonathan Oketcho and Joseph Kumbai will provide the offensive threat for the Ndejje Angels.
Oketcho is eighth in the league in scoring with 55 points, and Kumbai is averaging 14 rebounds per game, third in the league.
“We have had two tough losses against outstanding teams, but that won't derail us as we plan to get the victory and improve our winning record,” Oketcho told Pulse Sports.
With both teams off the back of defeats, a win for either side would improve the morale in the camp and leave the other demoralised.
