In the National Basketball League playoffs quarterfinals, a stellar performance by Peter Sifuma, featuring a 20-point 12 rebound double-double, propelled the UCU Canons to an 85-68 victory over Dmark Power in game three.

The UCU Canons burst out of the gates, commanding a 23-8 lead after the first quarter.

They maintained their offensive onslaught in the second quarter, with the Mukono-based team holding a 50-23 lead at halftime.

Lwabaga Ibanda, the team captain who also netted 18 points in the victory, emphasized the importance of the team’s robust start.

“We had sluggish starts in the first two games, so it was crucial to kick off this one with the right energy to set the tone for victory,” Ibanda shared with Pulse Sports.

“The camp is elated, reaching the semi-finals just weeks after facing relegation. But our focus is essential; we have to take it game by game,” he added.

He also pointed out the quick turnaround, with game one on Friday, highlighting, “These are the moments we live for; quick recovery and preparation are crucial.”

The Canons now gear up for a semi-final clash against the KIU Titans, their University counterparts.

This anticipated five-game series promises thrilling encounters, with the first game slated for Friday.

However, there’s a growing concern over UCU point guard, Jimmy Otim’s health, after a malicious take-down by Power forward Isaac Afridra during the third quarter.
