National Basketball League defending champions UCU Lady Canons return to league action for the first time since the first round looking to catch up with other title contenders.

The ninth-placed Lady Canons take on the A1 Challenge, a place above them on the log, with both sides looking to return to winning ways after defeats in their previous games.

Magic Stormers ended the Lady Canons' four-game winning streak to end the first round with a 56-45 victory.

According to Lady Canons captain Hajjara Najjuko, the team is excited to return to league competition targeting a fifth win in six games.

"It's been a while since we last played in the league, and the ladies are excited to return to action and get a victory tomorrow," Najjuko told Pulse Sports.

"We understand that we have to play catchup with the rest of the league, but the focus is always on the next game, and A1 Challenge is our main focus," she added.

After winning their last three games, A1 Challenge has lost their last two games to the JT Lady Jaguars( 68-46) and the Magic Stormers( 59-49).

A1 Challenge guard Sera Yaweh has expressed her team's desire to close out games in the fourth quarter, as it has been their Achilles heel in their last games.

"Our inability to close out games has cost us in our previous games, and that's what we look to improve in this fixture and get back to winning ways," Yaweh told this website.

"They have been off for a while, and we intend to fully exploit that because we need to start fast and have a go at them," she added.

With both teams separated by just a place on the table, a win will be crucial in helping them achieve their respective targets this season.
