Nnamdi Vincent returns to the bench but drops 16 points as Miami Heat outlast New Orleans Pelicans
The Miami Heat recorded a 124-98 victory away against the New Orleans Pelicans in an NBA regular season fixture played in the early hours of Thursday, January 19, 2023.
Led by star center of Nigerian descent Bam Adebayo, it was a wire-to-wire victory for the Heat.
They won all four quarters and produced an outstanding defensive effort to hold their opponents to under 100 points.

Nigerian-American professional basketball player Gabe Nnamdi Vincent produced another dominant performance for the Miami Heat.
After setting a career-high a week ago, Miami Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra decided to take out Nnamdi from the starters and mix him up with the bench unit.
Despite the change of role, Vincent had a productive 26 minutes off the bench to spark the Miami Heat's second unit.
He contributed 16 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out three assists. Vincent made six of his 14 shots, four of 10 from three-point range.
Players of Nigerian descent of the Miami Heat Adebayo and Oladipo both were key to the victory.
Adebayo in 31 minutes recorded 26 points, eight rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one block.
He made 11 of his 15 shots and four of six from the free-throw line.
Oladipo in 26 minutes off the bench, had seven points, five rebounds, four assists, and one block. He made three of his six shots and one of two from three-point range.
Nnamdi Vincent on Miami Heat win
After the victory, Vincent spoke to Bally Sports on the team and his return to the bench unit.
On the win, he said, "It felt great. it's definitely been something we've been trying to get back to.
"You know overall I think both sides of the floor we just played a really good game at basketball we shared it we defended we rebounded we did our job tonight."
On bench role and shot making, he added, "My guys are doing a great job of finding me when I'm open like I said that ball is moving around and uh forcing out making shots.
"It felt great you know our Stars guys are off to a good start. um you know early lead and that kind of gave us some momentum and we just came in and fed off that.
Vincent and the Miami Heat return to action against the Dallas Mavericks as they end their road trip in the early hours of Saturday, January 21, 2023.
