BASKETBALL No Komakech as City Oilers reveal Basketball Africa League squad

New signings Fayed Baale, Titus Lual and Edrine Walujjo are all on the travelling squad.

City Oilers head coach Mandy Juruni has named the final team that will feature in the Basketball Africa League Nile Conference starting next week.

The Oilers will be making their debut in Season Three of the competition and will fly out to Cairo, Egypt, Saturday morning.

And having been training while playing in the National Basketball League for the last month, the Oilers will hold their last session in Uganda Thursday night.

The tactician has named a team that includes four additions and eight players who feature for the eight-time champions in the local league.

Germaine Roebuck Jr., William Ngor, Fallando Jones, and James Justice Jr. are the reinforcements added to the team that has seasoned campaigners like Jimmy Enabu, James Okello and Tonny Drileba.

New signings Fayed Baale, Titus Lual and Edrine Walujjo are all on the travelling squad.

Ivan Muhwezi and Abdulhakim Ghedi are the other two to complete the team tasked with finishing in the top four to progress to the BAL Playoffs.

Ben Komakech, Micheal Ngut, Caesar Kizito Allawi Ssenkubuge, Henry Mulira and Ruai Luak are the players staying home.

Juruni noted: "We are thrilled to be representing Uganda as we make our debut at the Basketball Africa League. Our team has a winning mentality, and we are excited to showcase our skills on the continent's biggest stage."

The BAL Nile Conference will take place from April 26th April to May 6th, 2023, at the Dr. Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall in Cairo, Egypt.

City Oilers will be competing against five other teams from across Africa in a round-robin format.

Petroleos de Luanda (Angola), Al Ahly (Egypt), Seydou Legacy Athletique Club (Guinea), Ferroviario da Beira (Mozambique) and Cape Town Tigers (South Africa).
