A 5-6 record end the first round left more questions than answers and it will be important how Power perform in the remaining games to determine where they finish on the log.

The return of the National Basketball League was greeted with a shock defeat for City Oilers on Wednesday night.

The defending champions lost 88-80 to Ndejje Angels to fall for the first time this season.

But when Dmark Power take on UCU Canons Friday night at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium, it will be a battle of two teams that have blown hot and cold all season.

Timothy Odeke’s charges have had slight improvement in the second round and have an 8-8 record entering the final bend of the regular season.

The five-time champions had a luclaster first round but made some additions to the team and have looked rejuvenated in the second round.

Power unleashed two major signings, Congolese big man Elvis Mpeti and Nigerian guard Kevin Ogunjimi to start the second round but is the former who has already had a big impact on the team so far.

A 5-6 record end the first round left more questions than answers and it will be important how Power perform in the remaining games to determine where they finish on the log.

But their opponents, UCU Canons, are not far ahead. The university side has struggled for consistency all season.

They have already lost to Ndejje Angels and UPDF Tomahawks in the second round and will be looking to win more games to cement a good spot for the playoffs.

KCCA vs. Lady Jaguars

In the women’s division, KCCA Leopards will take on table leaders JT Lady Jaguars in the first game of the evening.

The newly-promoted Lady Jaguars have a 16-3 record and top the division while KCCA lie seventh on the log, with a 10-4 record.
