Nigeria's representative, Rivers Hoopers has arrived at the BAL Kalahari Conference in Morocco.

Nigeria’s pride in professional basketball The Rivers Hoopers touched down in Rabat, Morocco, ahead of the highly anticipated Basketball Africa League (BAL) Season 5 Kalahari Conference.

The team, known as the "Kings Men," arrived with high spirits, ready to represent Nigeria in the prestigious continental competition.

The Basketball Africa League, a collaboration between FIBA and the NBA, is hosting its milestone fifth season, and Morocco marks a new host nation for the Kalahari Conference, which tips off on April 5 and runs through April 13 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex.

The Rivers Hoopers, based in Port Harcourt, are no strangers to the BAL stage, making their third appearance after competing in the 2021 and 2024 seasons.

Last season, the Hoopers had a standout performance, finishing third overall in BAL 2024.

They clinched the Sahara Conference title in Dakar, defeating tough opponents like AS Douanes, the previous year’s finalists, and Rwanda’s APR, to secure a 2/2 record in the group stage.

Their impressive run was highlighted by the contributions of key players like Canadian-Nigerian Kelvin Amayo, who played a pivotal role in their success, alongside Devine Eke and Will Perry, all of whom were named to the All-BAL Teams.

This year, the team is poised to build on that momentum as they face off against formidable opponents, including Mali’s Stade Malien, Egypt’s debutant Al Ittihad, and the home side, FUS Rabat, in the season opener on April 5.

The Kalahari Conference promises intense matchups, with Rivers Hoopers set to face Stade Malien in their opening game at 4:00 p.m. on April 5, while FUS Rabat takes on Al Ittihad later that evening.
