Nigerian-American professional basketball player Chimezie Metu was honored on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
The 25-year-old Metu had his jersey retired at the Lawndale High School in California, United States of America (USA).
Metu graduated from Lawndale High School in 2015 and was a star player for their Cardinal basketball setup.

Metu wore a traditional Nigerian attire to the event held at Inglewood in California.
The Sacramento Kings organization including officials and players were all present to support Metu on his big night.
Asides from the Sacramento Kings, Metu's 2015 CIFSS finals team were present to celebrate the special occasion.
Now a key forward in the biggest basketball league, Metu's accomplishments in his career were recognized in front of his family and friends.
Metu wore the number jersey in high school and it was retired and lifted to the rafters of their basketball gym to applause by the fans in attendance.
Since Metu left Lawndale High School, he went to the University of Southern California (USC) for three years from 2015 to 2018.
After three years in College, he declared for the NBA draft and was selected in round two of the 2018 edition as the 49th overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs.
After two years with the Spurs, Metu joined the Kings in 2020 and has been a key member of the team ever since.
