In a highly anticipated game at the YMCA Court JKL Lady Dolphins, bounced back from their previous loss to the Lady Jaguars with a resounding 82-30 victory over a hapless A1 Challenge team on Wednesday night.

Lady Dolphins head coach Henry Malinga, who is currently overseeing other coaching responsibilities with Kibuli Secondary School at the National Schools Championships in Mbarara, was replaced by City Oilers head coach, Mandy Juruni.

Juruni, who has a wealth of coaching experience in the Ugandan basketball league, proved to be an inspired choice for the Lady Dolphins.

From tip-off, the Lady Dolphins were on fire, quickly setting the tone for the game with a 19-4 first quarter.

Their stifling defense prevented A1 Challenge from finding their rhythm, and it took them five minutes to score their first points.

Off the bench, Brenda Ekone led the game in scoring with 24 points, while Hope Akello tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds in an efficient 20 minutes on the night.

But it wasn't just their performances that stood out. The Lady Dolphins played with an intensity and a hunger that suggested they were determined to make a statement after their disappointing loss to the Lady Jaguars.

After the game, Lady Dolphins' stand-in head coach, Mandy Juruni, praised his team for the victory, but he also acknowledged that they have a long way to go to achieve their goals.

"It was a decent game, and we may have gotten the win, but I know that we can get better as a squad, and we will meet much tougher opponents along the way," Juruni said.

In their next game against the Miracle Eaglets, the Lady Dolphins will look to make it back-to-back wins and continue their quest for a third championship title.

The team's success has been built on a foundation of hard work, discipline, and a never-say-die attitude that is sure to stand them in good stead as they navigate the rest of the season.

On the other hand, A1 Challenge, who are currently at the bottom and winless after their opening seven games, will hope their fortunes will change when they face the Miracle Eaglets next.

A1 Challenge head coach, Eric Matovu, acknowledged his team's poor start to the season but remained hopeful that they can turn things around. "We' have had a rough start, but we're not giving up. We'll continue to work hard and do everything we can to get a win," Matovu said.
