Titus Lual's 13 points and 14 rebound double-double was enough for the City Oilers to sink the Kampala Rockets 58- 45 to extend their season record to 13-0.
The eight-time defending champions entered this fixture as clear favourites on Saturday evening and made it went about business as usual, racing to a 37- 28 lead at the halftime break.
"It was not the best of games, but that gives us further incentive to go again in the next fixture and improve on where we went wrong,” Lual told Pulse Sports.
The third quarter was a low scoring one for both sides as they scored 18 points combined, and all signs pointed to an Oilers victory.
The Kampala Rockets can take solace in winning the fourth quarter 11-9, one of the positives they can take from the game.
Rookie Allawi Ssenkubuge got a season-high in minutes played, scoring 14 points and four rebounds in 15 minutes of action played.
Lual was full of praise: "He (Ssenkubuge) was excellent on both offense and defense and made the most of his minutes out there today; I am looking forward to seeing him play more in the next fixtures.”
The Oilers main their top of the summit with 13 wins from 13 and remain firmly favourites to win their ninth straight title.
They go into their next fixture against KCCA Panthers as heavy favourites while the Kampala Rockets face UPDF in their next fixture, looking to bounce back with a win.
