UPDF Tomahawks have been dealt a considerable blow as forward Arthur Wanyoto is expected to be sidelined for an extended period.
Wanyoto who is currently averaging 12 points and nine rebounds for the Tomahawks, has been one of the best players for a side who sixth on the table with a 4-7 record after the first round.
The forward, who suffered minor damage ligament of his knee while in action for his side, says that it has been tough sitting out as he deals with his first significant injury.
“I enjoy playing basketball and all the emotion and rush it brings; this is my first significant time out with an injury, and watching from the sidelines has been tough for me”, Wanyoto told Pulse Sports.
Despite the injury setback, Wanyoto says that the mid-season break will be a blessing in disguise, giving them time to come back stronger for the second season.
“The end of the first round is only days away; with the break, I can be able to get enough rest and come back stronger for the second round and secure that playoff berth”, he added.
Wanyoto also acknowledged that the team hasn’t played to their expectations in the first round but believes that they will come back stronger in the second round.
“This first round has been subpar in terms of how we have played thus far, but we believe that we are good enough to make a strong run in the league”, he added.
The UPDF Tomahawks finally snapped their four-game losing streak against the JKL Dolphins thanks to a 68-54 victory on Sunday.
