The Portland Trail Blazers do not want to trade guard Damian Lillard but will have to convince their star man to stay put.
The Rumours about Damian Lillard's potential exit from Portland have refused to die down and despite the team's unwavering desire to keep him, the question becomes whether he will force their hand.
“I would love to see Dame retire a Trail Blazer, I have zero desire to trade him. I really hope this works out here,” Trail Blazers general manager Joe Cronin said to reporters in Oregon following Thursday night’s draft.
According to the Miami Herald, Lillard's preference was for the organisation to trade the #3 draft pick to add talent to the roster, win-now talent.
That has not happened, instead, the Trail Blazers kept the selection and picked 19-year-old guard Scoot Henderson. it remains to be seen how long Lillard, who is 32 now, is prepared to hang around in Portland.
