Anthony Joshua refuses to retire after knockout loss to Daniel Dubois

According to Anthony Joshua, he will continue to try and become a 3-time heavyweight boxing champion after a knockout loss to Daniel Dubois.

Anthony Joshua, a British boxing sensation of Nigerian ancestry, has lost in the past, but his latest defeat has infuriated people.

Andy Ruiz stopped and stunned him in New York while Oleksandr Usyk outwitted him in Riyadh and London.

But, in front of 98,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, he was intimidated and brutally beaten by Daniel Dubois.

Following his countryman's fifth-round submission there were requests have been made for the former champion to retire.

Joshua was trying to win the heavyweight title for the third time but he was far from successful against the dynamic Londoner.

Anthony Joshua vows not to retire

After taking out Dubois with a vicious blow to the jaw in the first, third, and fourth rounds, Joshua walked on to a right-hand bomb that took him out cold in the fifth.

Joshua, however, is not going to quit despite this humiliating loss and has taken to social media to share his emotions.

He said, “We came up short, but look, we’ve got to look at all the positives. That’s the mindset we have to have, a positive one, always.

“Look at what we’ve achieved in the space of 11 years – it’s phenomenal. And I want to thank every single one of you that’s been riding with me. What a rollercoaster journey.

“But do you know what the problem is? It’s far from over yet. We done it once, we done it twice… doing it a third time hasn’t been easy, but I believe it’s something I can achieve.

"It’s about making the right steps forward, working hard, improving, and it’s gotta come from [the heart]. It can't come from any external voices or influences. It’s gotta come [from the heart].

“It’s only been a day [since the loss], but when I sit back and I’m thinking, I know I’ve got a lot [of heart]. So, yeah, just a video to thank you for your support.

Joshua may or may not activate a rematch clause that Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn mentioned after the fight.

The former champion, though, is expected to return to the ring in 2025, despite some fans' wishes for him to end his illustrious 11-year professional career.
