Boxgirls Kenya has been yet again shortlisted for the Sport for Good award at the 2023 Laureus Sports Awards nominees.

They had been nominated in 2021 but unfortunately lost the gong to Kickformore by Kickfair of Germany.

Established in 2007 by Coach Analo Anjere (popularly known as Priest), the community-based organisation uses boxing to positively engage women and girls in activities where they are informed about their rights and can develop Life and leadership skills.

They aim to build a society where every girl holds the power to create opportunities for themselves and others. Currently, the Organisation is impacting the lives of girls in Kariobangi, Huruma, Mathare, Korogocho, Kayole, Kariadudu, Babadogo and the Western Region in Ekambuli.

Through their engagement in the society, they have produced some of the best boxers in the country including Commonwealth Super lightweight champion Angela Achieng.

They will be up against High Five of Germany, a Munich-based programme that is committed to supporting socially-disadvantaged and orphaned children using weekly workshops in sports.

Made for More of South Africa will also be vying for a win. The organisation aims to break the discrimination of people living with disabilities by equipping and empowering the disabled through sport to discover their purposes and passions in life.

Others nominated include Slum Soccer of India and Team up of Africa, Sri Lanka and occupied territories.
