Olympic star Catherine Nanziri will be keen on making her star shine brighter in her fifth professional boxing fight, as she battles Tanzania's Egine Kayange at the MTN Arena, Lugogo on August 19.
Nanziri, who became the first Ugandan female boxer at the Olympics in 2020, only turned pro in 2022.
However, she has already had four fights at this level with a perfect winning record.
"Yes, we are preparing well for the fight. There's more intensity than before because the challenge is bigger," the star said to Pulse Sports Uganda.
Since her debut victory against Tanzanian native Husna Zamba in April 2022, she has also gone on to beat the latter's compatriot, Sandra Mohamed.
Nanziri also managed re-sounding victories over Kenya's Nicholine Achieng and Uganda's Salimat Tibesigwa.
Nanziri is optimistic she'll get past her next hurdle, but also targets bigger goals after the fight.
"I am confident because life isn't as hard as it used to be as an amateur because we get paid when we play at this level."
"I want to be a world champion but first, I want to get done with this. This is an African title and I'm confident I will win it."
Meanwhile, Nanziri's opponent for August, Kayange, ranks number one amongst the female boxers in Tanzania.
Kayange is also more experienced than Nanziri as she had her maiden pro-fight in 2019, three years before Nanziri's.
From Kayange's 12 fights as a pro, she has managed eight victories, with the latest of her wins coming against Halima Bandola in Dar es Salaam in May 2023.
Nanziri and Kayange will be battling for the ABU African Women's Bantamweight title, in a fight which will last 12 rounds.
