Fatuma Zarika has sent a stark warning to her opponent, Yazidu Omari, ahead of the thrilling bout on Friday.

Fatuma Zarika fired warning shots at her opponent, Tanzanian boxer Yazidu Omari during a press briefing that was held on Wednesday afternoon at the Broadwalk Mall in Parklands ahead of their do-or-die bout on Friday at the same venue.

The 38-year-old Kenyan, popularly known as Iron Fist, noted that she would be keen to silence her opponent when they lock horns in the ring.

“Boxing is not about words but more about action. I would like to tell you (Omari) to come into the ring on Friday and see for yourself.

"Come and meet ‘Mama Yao’ (the queen of all boxers in Africa). Let us wait for that day…please come prepared. Allamdulilahi,” Zarika said, as quoted by Capital Sport.

The duo will be fighting for the World Boxing Federation (WBF) Featherweight title and Zarika will be getting back to the ring as a professional for the first time after missing out in action for close to three years. She will be hoping to defend the title that she won during her bout against Patience Matsara.

“I have been away for a while but now I am back. This fight is an opportunity to test my body and know where I am as per my physical readiness.

"Being away for a while is maybe a blessing in disguise because I am back with renewed vigour and ready to take the game by storm,” she said.

Meanwhile, the fight has been organised by Ultra Fight Promotions and has also set aside a thrilling line-up of bouts that also includes Kenya’s Albert Kimario facing off with Malawian Grey Chimkwapulo for the vacant WABA Intercontinental Super Bantamweight title.

Another Kenyan, George Onyango will face Tanzanian Isak Mushi in a welterweight bout as Ignatius ‘Mad Lion’ Onyango (Ugandan) steps into the ring against John Wasike of Kenya.
