Maketho delivered a scintillating flurry of punches which sent Congolese opponent, Yannick Manda, crashing onto the canvas.

Kenya heavyweight boxer Morris Okolla emerged victorious at the Mayday boxing match that took place in Charter Hall in Nairobi on Saturday night.

The non-title division bout saw Okolla, nicknamed Maketho Maloso, bully his opponent, Yannick Manda, especially on the ropes with hard blows.

The southpaw boxer used all his skill and experience to put the Congolese on the canvas, which ended the game with Okolla winning by TKO.

Okolla attributed his tenth knockout in his career to effective strategy and good training.

"Before the beginning of the first round, I had it in my mind that I will control the fight," he told a post-match press conference.

"But our strategy is to be patient, to take time, and not to rush " he said.

Okolla was crowned the national heavyweight champion in 2015 following a famous win over James Nyarikia.

He has since won 12 times, and lost 4 times in 16 career bouts, while Yannick Manda, on the other hand, has won 8 times and lost six times in 14 career bouts.

A sell-out crowd at Charter Hall witnessed some incredible moments in the six-card event sanctioned by the Kenya Professional Boxing Commission.

Okalla was initially scheduled to defend his national heavyweight title against US-based Kenyan Raymond "King Kong" Ochieng, but the fight failed to materialize.
