Mike Tyson, despite losing to Jake Paul, expressed gratitude for overcoming health challenges where he almost died earlier this year to fight before his children and viewed showing up as a personal victory.

Legendary boxer Mike Tyson has explained why he has no regrets following his loss to social media influencer turned fighter Jake Paul.

In their highly-anticipated bout, the two boxers went for eight rounds with Jake Paul being announced the winner by unanimous decision. The heavyweight battle was held in Texas.

The match between the former heavyweight champion and the 27-year-old was streamed live on Netflix and happened at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Many had anticipated Mike Tyson to win the bout including Drake but he failed to live up the billing in the fight.

However, he does not regret what happened as he penned a lengthy message on his X (Twitter) handle, explaining that he has gone through so much this year and showing up for the fight was already a win.

The former heavyweight champion revealed that fighting before his children without losing hope after almost dying earlier this tear is something he does not take for granted.

“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time. I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won,” Mike Tyson said.

“To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you 🙏,” he added.

Speaking after fight, Mike Tyson explained that he knew Jake Paul had been working around the clock to dethrone him and was well-prepared for the challenge.

“I knew he was a good fighter. He was prepared. I came to fight. I didn’t prove nothing to anybody, only to myself. I’m not one of those guys that live to please the world. I’m just happy with what I can do,” he added.

During his time, Mike Tyson was one of the fiercest heavyweight champions of all time and he remained mum on whether he would go back to the ring one more time.
