Joshua continues Nigeria’s dominance
Just weeks after the Super Eagles humiliated the Indomitable Lions at AFCON 2023, before Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey starred in Fulham's shock win over Cameroon's Andre Onana and Manchester United, Joshua re-established Nigerian superiority devastatingly.
The British-born Nigerian wasted no time in taking control against the former UFC heavyweight champion, flooring Ngannou heavily in the first round with a blistering right hand.
Ngannou beat the count but it was just delaying the inevitable. Joshua stepped up the pace in the second, landing a straight right hand flush on the Cameroonian's jaw to leave him face-planted and spark wild Nigerian celebrations on social media.
At the Africa Cup of Nations last month, the Indomitable Lions were completely outclassed by Nigeria, as Ademola Lookman's double secured a 2-0 win in the round of 16.
That set the stage for Premier League glory, as Iwobi and Bassey - both involved against Cameroon - scored at Old Trafford as Fulham incredibly beat Manchester United 2-1, leaving United’s Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana utterly despondent.
Now Joshua has delivered the knockout blow in this latest instalment of Nigerian dominance over their West African rivals.
At 34, the veteran appears to have plenty of fuel left in the tank to continue his nation's glorious sporting supremacy.
