One of Nigeria's representatives at the Paris Olympics games has been sent home after failing a drug test.
Nigerian boxer Cynthia Ogunsemilore has been removed from the Paris Olympics women’s tournament after testing positive for a banned substance.
The International Testing Agency (ITA) announced on Saturday that the 22-year-old African Games lightweight champion had tested positive for furosemide, a diuretic often used as a masking agent for other performance-enhancing drugs.

A sample collected on Thursday, July 25, revealed a positive result, according to the ITA.
"The athlete has been informed of the case and has been provisionally suspended until the resolution of the matter in line with the World Anti-Doping Code and the IOC Anti-Doping Rules applicable to the Olympic Games Paris 2024," said an ITA statement.
Ogunsemilore was scheduled to compete in the round of 16 on Monday as the fourth seed in the women's 60-kilogram category. She was a rising star in the sport, having won the African Games title earlier this year and a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
