Ugandan cricketer Brian Masaba is not the national team captain for the sake of it; the calm persona and ability to continuously help younger players learn from him and the rest of the group is quite telling.
The all-rounder, who will lead his side to the inaugural Continent Cup T20 in Nairobi later this week, was in the same welcoming mood regarding the two debutants on the team.
Batsman Robinson Obuya and bowler Siraje Nsubuga are part of the 14-man squad set to compete at the tournament.
And the skipper says the duo deserve the opportunity, and everyone on the team can help them settle in.
"I am happy for them because they've done well this year," Masaba told Pulse Sports before adding.
"I have seen both of them develop over time, and they have earned their opportunity. We shall help them in any way possible to do well in Nairobi," he added.
Obuya also emphasized his need to help the team in any way possible in Nairobi.
"I feel good and excited to be part of the team if I get the chance to play; I will give 100 per cent with the bat and in fielding too."
"I hope to score as many runs," he told Pulse Sports at the team's flag-off in Lugogo," he added.
For Siraje Nsubuga, the need for a good economy on the wicket will be essential.
"I feel excited, I have been working hard for this opportunity, and now I feel ready to give everything; I want to bowl well, get wickets and ensure my economy is great," Nsubug noted.
Uganda, who were flagged off on Tuesday morning at the National Council of Sports offices, will hope that the players' role executions at the five nations tournament, which runs from 7th to 21st June, is perfect.
Participating Teams: Rwanda, Kenya, Botswana and Uganda.
