That was about a month since Uganda qualified for their first ever T20 World Cup slated for the United States and West Indies between June and July next year.

From guiding Uganda to the ICC T20 World Cup to winning the ICA Africa Cup in months, Cricket Cranes head coach Jackson Ogwang is locked in enchantment and elation.

Uganda beat arch-nemesis Kenya by 91 runs in South Africa on Tuesday to retain their ICA T20 Africa Cup.

That was about a month since Uganda qualified for their first ever T20 World Cup slated for the United States and West Indies between June and July next year.

"It's a very good feeling, and I'm very proud of the boys; they have really put up their hands and made Uganda and the whole cricket fraternity proud," Ogwang spoke to Sanyu FM.

"After qualifying for the World Cup, the world focuses on you and all eyes were on us."

It's been an impressive tournament for the Cricket Cranes, who needed to get over the defeat to Rwanda in the first game.

"Unfortunately, we sank very low in the first game against Rwanda, but we knew it was just a setback; we had to refocus and reset ourselves. We did and gave strong performances," Ogwang added.

"Brilliant year. We have defied the odds; the fact that we're African champions, this is so good and a great feeling."

"We didn't prepare very well because of the unavailability of cricket grounds, but the association did all they could to support us. The best effort came from these boys."

"We're really excited for 2024. We'll prepare starting January 8th, and we just want to leave a mark in the West Indies and the US."

"We have to put in the work, and that's why the boys' holidays have been cut. We have to work for the biggest achievement, and we shall give our best next year."
