Soroti Cricket Academy has announced a team of 14 U17 girls for an invitational series of matches against the U17 Rwanda team. The matches are slated for January 15-19 in Kigali, Rwanda.
This will mark the Academy’s first overseas tour, and the team will have a chance to be exposed to the international stage.
This will allow them to experience different cultures and traditions, provide a platform for players to network and build connections, build mental toughness and expose them to the standards and demands of professional cricket.
The team have been in residential camp since January 3 at St. Marys Girls School in Madera, Soroti City, preparing for the exciting opportunity with dedicated training sessions focusing on all aspects of the game.

That was about a month since Uganda qualified for their first ever T20 World Cup slated for the United States and West Indies between June and July next year.

Cricket Cranes beat Kenya to win a second successive Africa Cup
This is the latest leap by the Cricket Cranes, who also made it to the T20 World Cup, weeks back.
The academy works with 15 Primary Schools and eight secondary schools within Soroti and has three clubs participating in the national league.
Over the years, 23 girls have represented Uganda at the senior and U19 levels, with nine in the squad that enabled Uganda to qualify for the Global Qualifiers scheduled for April 2024.
