Baby Cricket Cranes head coach Emmanuel Isaneez is banking on his U-19 Cricket World Cup experience to motivate his squad in Tanzania.

Isaneez, a former Cricket Cranes bowler who featured at the 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup in Colombo, Sri Lanka says he is hopeful the youngsters learn from his 2006 experience to seal qualification for another World Cup berth.

“It’s a familiar experience like what I had in 2006, we also played qualifiers like now, and I am trying to use this opportunity to prepare my team,” Isaneez told the media in Tanzania.

“The other good thing is that we have at least six players featured at the previous World Cup, so we continue to build on that experience to perform well.”

The Baby Cricket Cranes are in Tanzania for the U-19 Cricket World Cup qualifiers but could not get their campaign underway against Namibia on Sunday after the game was washed out.

Emmanuel Isaneez’s charges will return to the oval on Tuesday to face Nigeria.

Six teams, including hosts Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria, Namibia, Sierra Leone and Kenya are battling for one slot to the World Cup.

Uganda hopes to reach their fourth U-19 Cricket World Cup; having appeared in the 2004, 2006 and 2022 editions, the 2024 edition will be held in Sri Lanka.
