The side's head coach Emmanuel Isaneez says his charges will do everything possible to seal the top spot, primarily because of the team's preparation over the months.

The Baby Cricket Cranes will have another opportunity to qualify for another U-19 Cricket World Cup when the qualifiers get underway in Tanzania from 21st-31st July.

The side's head coach Emmanuel Isaneez says his charges will do everything possible to seal the top spot, primarily because of the team's preparation over the months.

"We are in the best shape of mind, and the association has supported the team well," Isaneez told Pulse Sports.

"And I believe we're in the best shape of mind physically, mentally and technically to give our best in Tanzania."

"We hope to take it one game at a time; we know we want to win it, but we also have to respect the other teams like Namibia, which I think is a good side," he added.

A tour in May 2023 in India at the renowned Sanjay Cricket farm was vital in helping the side prepare better.

"The tour to India tour helped the boys get in the shape of laying the spinners; Tanzania being a region with sandy soils, you expect balls to turn so much, but we sorted that in India," Isaneez added.

Six teams, including hosts Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria, Namibia, Sierra Leone and Kenya, will be battling for one slot in the World Cup.

Uganda, who depart on Friday, hopes to reach their fourth U-19 Cricket World Cup; having appeared in the 2004, 2006 and 2022 editions, the 2024 edition will be held in Sri Lanka.

The Baby Cranes who have six players from the 2022 edition open their campaign on Sunday, 23rd July, against Namibia.
