Seven Countries to Participate in Cricket

Seven out of the 18 International Cricket Council Associate Member countries, including Nigeria and hosts Ghana, are also participating: Tanzania, Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, and Namibia, along with the two full ICC members, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, competing at the Achimota Cricket Grounds in Accra.

In the men’s event, Nigeria finds itself in Group B alongside Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Tanzania. Despite being the lowest-ranked team in the group, Nigeria has shown promise, securing one win against Tanzania during the T20 World Cup qualifiers last year.

Ranked 38th globally, Nigeria faces Tanzania on March 17, followed by a match against the highest-ranked team in the group, Namibia, on March 18. Their final group game is against Zimbabwe two days later.

For the women's event, Nigeria competes in Group A against South Africa, Namibia, and Tanzania.

As the women’s team gears up for the African Games with the NCF T20i tournament in Lagos next week, the men's team are champions of the maiden West Africa Trophy last October, has intensified their preparations at the Tafawa Balewa Square oval in Lagos.
