The off-spin bowler has been closely following Victoria Pearls’ preparations ahead of the upcoming Victoria Series set to take place in Kampala; Nsubuga says self-confidence and unity will be critical for the Pearls.
“It is a big tournament for the girls because they need to attain a higher ranking, so every game is important; we need to win the tourney for sure,” he told Pulse Sports.
“They have prepared well, having trained for more than two months, so they have to follow the coach’s instructions but also be confident and have unity for them to perform well,” Nsubuga added.
Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania are some of the teams that Uganda has faced more often, and Nsubuga says the Victoria Pearls shouldn’t take it for granted but rather be calmer to execute well.

Mental strategy is significant to athletes as they battle different aspects to succeed in their craft.
“Most of these teams, the Pearls have played against apart from UAE, but that doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed; they have to remain calm and focused to execute well,” he cautioned.
“Thankfully, coach Mahatlane is also part of them, and I know he is helping them well with game management.”
