The U-19 side, who are preparing for the upcoming world cup qualifiers, are set to have a two-week training camp at the farm where they are expected to play six 50-over games, and one T20 match against select sides organized by the Sanjay Farm.

The Uganda Baby Cricket Cranes head coach Emmanuel Isaneez has stressed the importance of his side’s tour at the Sanjay Farm in India.

The U-19 side, who are preparing for the upcoming world cup qualifiers, are set to have a two-week training camp at the farm where they are expected to play six 50-over games, and one T20 match against select sides organized by the Sanjay Farm.

“The trip to India is part of our warm-up engagements, which involves playing against strong Gujarati youth in Gujarati at Sanjay Farm so that we gain the necessary experience we need before July,” Isaneez noted.

“India is known for producing quality spinners in the game of cricket, so this is a good platform for our boys to learn more from them while they play against them.”

“We are also looking at developing the competitive mindset and positive, smart cricket, so we shall use this opportunity given to exercise what we need as a team,” Isaneez added.

The side will also have a new skipper in Fahad Mutagana, replacing Pascal Murungi, who was promoted to the senior cricket team.

The 16-member side, who have been undergoing physical, technical, tactical, and mental aspects at Lugogo, are preparing for the U-19 boys Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in Tanzania in July from 23rd to 29th.

The qualifiers will have six teams (Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Nigeria, Namibia, and Kenya), with only one team earning the right to represent Africa in Sri Lanka in 2024.

Uganda has qualified for three editions of the U-19 cricket world cup (2004, 2006, and 2022).
