They might have started off on a wrong foot, but Tanzania is back on track after registering a second win with a 101-run win over Kenya on Thursday at the Lugogo cricket oval.

The game was delayed by rain and reduced to 17 overs Kenya won the toss and opted to field first but struggled to slow down Tanzania, who set 146/4 in their 17.0 overs.

The first innings saw only Flavia Odhiambo put up a fight with her four wickets for 25 runs in her four overs.

Tanzania’s Fatuma Omary Kibasu hit 37 off 33 balls, Including four boundaries, with Saum Godfrey Mtae adding 35 runs off 20 balls, while Hudaa Mrisho Omary posted 24 runs off 24 balls not out.

Perice Zakayo Kamunya added 34 off 18, not out.

Kenya was then limited to 45 all out, with Perice Zakayo Kamunya leading Tanzania’s good effort in the field, picking up three wickets off 14, while Sophia Frank Jerome managed two wickets off six runs.

Juma Marion 18(18) and Mercy Ahono 12(27) were the only Kenyan batters in double figures.

The win takes Tanzania to the top of the table standings with four points, while Kenya sit bottom with no point and is out of contention after losing three games.
