The Victoria Pearls put up a spirited fight in the field to limit Tanzania to 76 all out as they picked a win by three runs on Friday at the Lugogo cricket oval.

Fatuma Omari Kibasu won the toss and elected to bowl, limiting Uganda to 79/8 in 15 overs.

Tanzania limited Uganda to 22/1 in the power play, with Sophia Frank Jerome picking up three wickets in 10 runs while Perice Zakayo Kamunya picked up two other wickets in 8 runs.

Kevin Awino led Uganda with the bat picking up 27runs off 24 balls, including three boundaries, with Immaculate Nakisuuyi also posting 10(16) along with Ritah Musamali’s 13(9), not out as Uganda managed 79/8.

In the chase, Tanzania’s Agnes Qwela Joseph managed 28(28), with Saum Godfrey Mtae 10(9), Fatuma Omary Kibasu 11(22) and Hudaa Mrisho Omary 10(8) reaching double figures, but Uganda kept them at bay.

Assistant captain Janet Mbabazi picked up four wickets, conceding 21 runs, while captain Consy Aweko managed three wickets for 13 runs, and Evelyn Anyipo added one wicket for 19 runs.

The win means Uganda remain the only unbeaten side in the Victoria series and that takes the Victoria Pearls top of the log on six points after three games played.

Tanzania move to second on four points after three games played.
